Alice & Harry | Pitzhanger Manor Ealing

I grew up in Ealing and even got married at the Pitzhanger Manor in Walpole Park over 10 years ago. This is way before the very fancy renovation. Alice & Harry had the second ever wedding in the newly renovated PM Gallery and it was an absolute pleasure to capture their day.

After the sunny ceremony, everyone headed back to Alice’s parents home where their garden and their very accommodating neighbour, Marianne, had been converted into the drinks reception. This was followed by speeches and a meal in the flower laden marquee. Marianne not only donated her beautiful garden she also as did all the flowers. The couple were very relaxed and just wanted everyone to have a wonderful time, they decided not to do a first dance, it’s their day after all! But the dance floor was packed and everyone danced the night away….

I’ve added some of my favourites here, I hope you like them…

Laura & James | The Walled Garden Cowdray

I always seem to talk about the weather in these posts but whilst we all say if it rains it's fine, we live in England what can we expect? Secretly we are all hoping and wishing that it's sunny and the 50 giant umbrellas we invested in remain in their cellophane. I promise I wish it too for each and every one of my couples even though I actually would prefer a nice flat cloudy sky instead of bright sunshine (as it makes photographing outside way easier) but it's not my day so I'll take bright sun over rain any day. So despite a changeable week leading up to the big day, Saturday arrived and so did the magical sun.

It was a truly beautiful day, filled with more flowers than you can imagine, a glorious array of bridesmaids dresses (hand chosen by each to suit themselves, I do love it when bridesmaids don't match!) and oh yes sunshine which showed off the flowers in the Walled Garden at Cowdray delightfully. Laura & James had booked time in the ruins and again we were lucky to hit it at just the right time so the light was just beautiful.

A stunning day from start to finish, this is a long post, I hope you enjoy it!

Jess + Ross | Foxhill Manor Winter Wedding

A wedding between Christmas and New Year is an unusual time, it's that 'lost' week, where you just can't keep track of the days and your mind starts wandering to new year goals  and the reality of work and the holidays being over. So isn't it lovely to have a wedding to plan and look forward to in that week? I thought so too. And the weather was almost balmy for a December day. The Cotswold cottages, the church and Foxhill Manor were all bathed in golden sunshine. Really it was the final sparkling touch for a beautiful day.

This is a long post, it's an end of January celebration in all things wedding, with sunshine, stoles, twinkly lights, sparklers, laughter, confetti abundance and mistletoe kisses.

I hope you enjoy it.

Lisa & Ben | The Swan at the Globe Wedding

I'm delighted to start 2016 sharing this beautiful day with you. A Christmas wedding is always extra special, twinkly lights, Christmas decorations and a beautiful Bride & Groom on London's South Bank. The Swan at the Globe was all set up as a winter lodge, a perfect backdrop for Lisa & Ben's day. With the mild weather we also managed to make the most of the last rays of light before the early winter sunset even receiving a very kind gesture of a free turn on the vintage carousel. Wedding gowns and colourful horses! What more could you ask for?

I loved this day from start to finish and I'm sharing lots for the first day back in the Lily & Frank Studio, I hope you like them...

Wadiyah & Omar | The Mayfair Hotel London

Wadiyah & Omar had the loveliest of Beloved shoots where the universe colluded so we had the best light and best location to create the happiest of pictures. These images here are from the couples second day of celebrations (the first was the Nikah the Muslim marriage which happened a few days before in front of just close friends and family, I documented that day too but will share another time). The celebration at the Mayfair Hotel was on the hottest day of the year so the sun was shining again and the couple had created a haven of red roses and candle light in the oriental room. As the marriage ceremony had taken place a few days before this day was about celebrating with more family and friends, plenty of family photos, some time alone with the couple, speeches, cake, delicious food and lots and lots of dancing. I hope you like them x

Amy & Pete | Hampton Court House Wedding

It was so, so lovely to be back at Hampton Court House in June for Amy & Pete's wedding. It's such a unique venue, school by weekday and wedding venue at the weekend. It's an extraordinary place to be both educated and married and I wish I could have done both!

I absolutely adored Amy & Pete and knew their day would be stunning, full of lovely details (Steph from Fairy Nuff Flowers was, after all doing the flowers) with lots of giggles and laughter. First we had to get to the church and the ceremony was performed by the sweetest Vicar Alison who was so personable, warm and friendly, she even gave the couple a gift during the ceremony - it was a delight to both witness and capture. After the congratulations, hugs and kisses everyone made their way in the glorious sunshine to Hampton Court House. Drinks, family photos and a little shoot with the couple in the grounds followed before everyone took their seats for dinner, toasts and speeches. There was also a surprise slideshow that Amy had made for Pete ensuring that the laughter didn't stop! I loved their first dance and it was just an amazing end to an incredible day.

I really hope you enjoy Amy & Pete's day...

Amy & Pete, thank you so much for letting me capture your day!

Jaclyn & Lee | The Mandarin Oriental Wedding

If there is a couple who has full rights to ‘live happily ever after’ it’s Jaclyn & Lee. The sweetest, most genuine couple you could ever hope to meet, a couple who totally deserve to be looked after by the Sun Gods and the Luck Gods not just on their wedding day but from this day forward because I don’t think you could find a more unassuming couple who were so thrilled by the littlest of things and were pinching themselves at how lucky they were. As part of your booking at The Mandarin Oriental, you get a suite included to get ready but you don’t often get the best suite in the hotel, better than Hugh Jackman's (who was allegedly staying upstairs in a lesser suite). But they were upgraded, hope you don’t mind? Probably because they are so darn nice! May I add that this suite was incredible; a 3-bed luxury apartment would probably describe things a little more accurately!

After a tour, I finally picked up my camera and started documenting the day. The girls were being made up in the dining room that over looked Hyde Park, I had free reign to photograph the preparations and the details all over the apartment before heading downstairs to see Lee and his best man in their (very small, very normal!) room. It was then time to head over to St Brides Church, Fleet Street. A beautiful church where Rector David, had come out of retirement to perform the ceremony so it was extra meaningful for the couple. The choir were incredible, the best I’ve ever heard in any ceremony, you could have listened to them all day.

Ceremony complete, confetti then followed before we all headed back to The Mandarin Oriental, the guests settled in with drinks and canapés and the couple and I headed to Hyde Park for the couple portraits, which looked glorious in the sunshine. We also managed some fun images on the swings, luckily the children were accommodating and we were allowed to borrow their swings for a few minutes. We re-joined the reception before it was time to sit for dinner and the speeches that followed.

Islington Town Hall Wedding Jugged Hare Reception | Gem & Matt

There's nothing quite like a wedding in London, it's unpredictable - where else can it take you an hour to go half a mile? The landscape is urban, gritty, busy, there's always a pigeon or two and a tourist in your shot but it's the most incredible place to be married. It may not be a Tuscan hillside but it's beautiful in it's own way and totally unique. I've always lived in London (albeit West) and its ways seep into your bones, I love it (I also sometimes very much loathe it... did I mention it can take an hour to travel a half mile?!) and I love shooting a London wedding, I love a couple who choose a pub near the Barbican Centre and insist that their couple portraits happen right there in the midst of Saturday lunch time. And I particularly love a couple who practise their first dance under the stone walkways!

This wedding was as unpredictable as the city it happened in, running 2 hours late, a brides speech (so she could have the last word!), a pub reception filled with taxidermy and a pretty hotly fought bouquet catch. Gem & Matt thanks so much for having me there to capture it!
